I'm curious what kind of #DesktopEnvironment are you using? A traditional GTK desktop with title and menu bars or a simple one with headerbars and a menu button?
Note: Some DEs like Cinnamon or Budgie are less complete. In this case it depends on what's installed besides that:
XApps or MATE apps?
-> traditional Cinnamon
GNOME (style) apps?
-> simplistic Cinnamon
The same applies to stand-alone WMs (i3, etc)

If Eugen is so ashamed of the monster he's created that he feels the majority of it should be hidden away like a dirty little secret in the official iOS app he could use that shame towards building better tools towards a healthier and safer social space like people have been literally begging for and suggesting since 2017

Starting an instance to host a community is appealing to some people.
Starting an instance to do free IT for a distributed server farm of homogeneous instances seems like a hard sell.

Moving to #linux 🎉, starting with ElementaryOS due to the UI design and being Ubuntu based means I have some knowledge on how to do basic stuff.
And to people who want Arch, no, I am not going to get into a complicated mess yet. I said it.
